How to maintain your personalised photo mug

Mugs have been a go-to personalised gift for a long time, and we like to think we’ve perfected how to take the best care of a photo mug over the years. Here are our top tips for keeping your photos clear and vibrant with every sip.

  • Hand wash over dishwasher: The convenience of a dishwasher is great, but the cycle can sometimes be a bit too harsh for your photo mug.

All of our photo mugs feature a Duraglaze coating meaning you can put them in the dishwasher, however, the combination of high temperatures and strong detergents can cause the image to fade quicker than with gentle hand washing. For this reason, we always suggest hand-washing as the best option.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures: It’s generally best to avoid submerging a hot personalised mug in very cold water or vice versa! This could result in sudden cracking which can ruin your lovely personalised design. Always let your mug cool down before putting it in cold water.
  • Never put your ceramic photo mug in the microwave: Our enamel mugs are made of metal and coated in enamel, so it’s definitely not a good idea to place it in a microwave as this can cause sparks, and potentially even a fire. The result? A damaged mug, and a broken microwave.

  • Personalised coasters and placemats
Our personalised coasters and placemats are available in two materials — linen or gloss and cork-backed. We love the cottage-core vibe of our linen placemats and coasters and the robust, easy-cleaning nature of our gloss photo placemats and coasters — but how do you keep them looking spotless?

How to maintain and clean linen coasters and placemats

Linen is a natural and light fibre, adding to their whimsical and cosy appeal. However, due to the nature of the fabric, it’s also very delicate so harsh washing can damage the fabric and your chosen image.

We’d suggest washing your linen placemats and coasters in a cold wash with a gentle laundry detergent over using a washing machine for this reason. If you have to use a washing machine, use the most gentle cycle on the coldest setting and place your coasters and placemats in a mesh bag to protect them. Don’t use any bleach or fabric softeners as you would with your day-to-day clothes — this could damage the fabric and the print.

When it comes to drying your linen coasters and placemats, you must dry them properly to reduce the risk of shrinking, fading or cracking. Always do this on a flat and clean surface and only ever iron when necessary using the lowest heat and a piece of cloth or parchment over the print to protect it.

    Framed Photos
Of course, if you do prefer the classic appeal of photo frames, why not create a gallery wall? Setting out your gallery of photos above your staircase can be a fantastic way to see your children grow up — start with reception photos above the bottom step, followed by year one photos on the step above, and add to the collection as every school year passes.

Our Framed Photos are available in portrait or landscape layouts and in a range of sizes. Choose your frame colour to suit your home’s decor — select from sleek black, warm oak, or crisp and modern white. This allows you to create a cohesive and stylish display that complements your interior design while celebrating your child's educational milestones.
    Photo Magnets
Make everyday items special by turning school photos into magnets. What better way to remember your favourite photos than by seeing them every time you open the fridge?

Each of our pocket-sized Framed Photo Magnets is printed on FUJIFILM Original Photographic Paper for vibrant colour reproduction. You can choose a set of magnets featuring the same photo — ideal for sharing end-of-school memories with your child’s grandparents and other family members — or use a different photo for each magnet. This can be a great option for families with multiple children. These magnets are not only functional but also a fun way to keep memories in sight, adding a personal touch to your home environment.
